Are you ready to make a difference in our club? I encourage you to start planning by volunteering for club tasks. Sharing the work of the club together, no matter how small, is fun and very rewarding; you get back more than you put in.
In 1991, the founders of the International Club of Berne and its first committee members didn’t have a clue where the club would be in 25 years. And yet, here we are, still functioning, thanks to the commitment and energy of our volunteers and the support of our members.
From personal experience, I find that joining the International Club and becoming an active member on the committee was the best thing I could do to improve my social life in a new country. Not only have I found many good friends through the club, but the experience has also made me feel at home and glad to be living in Switzerland.
I look forward to hearing from you and ask you to read about the club nomination rules and the Biennial General Meeting, which will take place on 25 March.
With best wishes for 2017 from all of us on the committee.
The club was founded in 1991, as a non-political organisation open to all living in and around Berne, Switzerland, who are interested in meeting for social and cultural activities. We welcome people from all corners of the world. Our common language is English, though among our members many different languages can be heard. You can join this web site for free. Give us your postal address so we can send you our Newsletters. Then after a while, you can decide if you will join the club, fill out the Membership and Interest Forms, and pay 50.- or 60.- for the year.
We have a picknick on the Gurten. Meet at the lower station of the funicular at 11:00, or at the top outside the Tapis Rouge restaurant. We will wait for those who are hiking up the mountain. Bring your snacks and drinks. We go to some benches on the hilltop at 11:45. Around 1 pm we will visit the tower and go for a walk. Call me 078 6842473 if you cannot find us.
